A unique collaboration has emerged as nine international artists reinterpret the Valentino Garavani DeVain clutch handbag. Crafted by Alexander McQueen’s current visionary, Alessandro Michele, this handbag made its debut with the pre-Fall 2025 collection, and is now the focus of a groundbreaking digital art project.
The DeVain clutch serves not merely as an accessory but as a centerpiece in nine distinct visual narratives. This initiative allows for an intriguing exploration of modern creativity, transforming through the lens of digital artistry. Each artist infuses their own perspective, resulting in a rich tapestry of visual innovation that stands testament to contemporary artistic dialogue.
The first collection of works features contributions from five renowned artists: Thomas Albdorf, Enter the Void, Paul Octavious, Albert Planella, and Tina Tona. Awaiting launch in early December, the next segment will introduce works from four additional creators. Each artist uniquely portrays the DeVain as a beacon of creative expression, seamlessly merging innovative concepts with individual artistry.

Albdorf takes the creative lead with a series of studio-based video installations, where the handbag is showcased against mirrored surfaces, creating a dance of symmetry and texture. In contrast, Enter the Void employs artificial intelligence to construct an enchanting underwater desert world brimming with whimsical fish and floating handbags, effectively bending the notions of time and space. Octavious interprets the handbag within animated portraits influenced by classic 16th-century artistry, while Tona employs a vibrant mix of multimedia collage and digital animation, presenting the DeVain from dynamic angles that blur the lines between chaos and order. Planella’s approach marries AI with cinematic techniques to craft a narrative oscillating between dream and reality.
Set to launch in mid-November, the DeVain clutch comes in an impressive 27 variants, ranging from sleek monochrome Nappa to textured denim and crochet raffia. This luxurious handbag is further enhanced with colorful crystal embellishments, intricate bead embroideries, and elegant floral accents combined with sumptuous velvets.
Each clutch is designed with a customizable leather tag where clients can inscribe their initials. This personalization option elevates the DeVain from just a handbag to a unique expression of individual style, available at selected Valentino boutiques globally and on Valentino.com.
