Lacoste has recently announced its collaboration with Pierre Gasly, the 30-year-old Formula 1 driver representing the Alpine F1 team since 2023. In this partnership, Gasly will become the face of Lacoste’s iconic polo shirt, a project that marks the beginning of a series of exciting ventures set to unfold over the coming months.
Gasly emphasized that the polo shirt is not just clothing; it is “Lacoste’s strongest expression: a piece born on the tennis court that has evolved into a symbol of effortless elegance.” He highlighted how Lacoste has successfully blended its rich sporting heritage with a fresh, contemporary vision of style.
Originally crafted in the 1930s by Lacoste’s founder, René Lacoste, the piqué polo shirt was created as a more comfortable alternative to the more rigid styles of sportswear that were prevalent at the time. This innovation marked a significant shift in athletic apparel, marrying function with fashion.
Eric Vallat, the company’s CEO, expressed that Gasly epitomizes the performance-driven spirit and determination that have been central to Lacoste’s identity since its inception. Vallat shared, “His international career, high standards, and connection to sports like tennis and golf resonate strongly with our brand.” He further noted, “We are thrilled to welcome him as one of our brand ambassadors and look forward to embarking on this new chapter together.”
Gasly first broke into Formula 1 in 2017 and quickly made headlines by becoming the youngest French driver to earn a podium finish two years later. His first victory came at the prestigious Italian Grand Prix in Monza in 2020, showcasing his talent on the global stage.
As of the 2026 season, Gasly is performing admirably, currently holding the eighth spot in the overall drivers’ standings after three races. His career continues to gather momentum in the fast-paced world of motorsport.
In addition to his role with Lacoste, Gasly was appointed as the ambassador for the Gentleman Givenchy fragrance line last year, leading campaigns for scents such as Eau de Parfum Ambrée. His influence continues to expand, making him a prominent figure in both the racing and fashion industries.
Furthermore, Swiss watchmaker H. Moser & Cie, a partner of Alpine Motorsports, named Gasly as its inaugural brand ambassador in 2024. This partnership involves the creation of exclusive limited-edition watches, a collaboration featuring input from Gasly and the company’s owner, Edouard Meylan.
The partnership between Lacoste and Pierre Gasly marks an intriguing blend of sports and high fashion, reinforcing the idea that style transcends environments, whether on the racetrack or the tennis court. As this collaboration unfolds, it will be fascinating to see how Gasly’s influence shapes Lacoste’s traditional image while appealing to a modern audience.
