The French edition of Vogue simply does not hold the prestige it once did under former editors Carine Roitfeld and Emmanuelle Alt. However, at the very least, current editor Claire Thomson-Jonville has a penchant for selecting fashion models as the title’s cover girls. Namely, the likes of Gigi Hadid, Cindy Bruna, Natalia Vodianova, Libby Taverner, Kendall Jenner, Doutzen Kroes, and Irina Shayk have paved the way via the front cover of the French fashion bible. The next model to grace the cover of Vogue France is Awar Odhiang, who fronts the October 2026 edition of the magazine. Willy Vanderperre returns as cover shoot photographer, along with stylist Paul Sinclaire. The Canadian-South Sudanese beauty is all smiles in the joyous cover shot, wearing a creation from the Fall 2026 Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda collection.

“Burn the wig,” crmsn shrieked upon checking out the cover.
“Awar’s smile is gorgeous and infectious but that wig is diabolical. That fish eye angle whatever Vanderperre used isn’t doing anything great, either,” critiqued WAVES.
“I was excited to see Awar by Willy, and I ended up being horrified. I guess it’s fitting for Halloween,” a disenchanted Thefrenchy commented.
“This magazine… I can’t,” voiced Lola701.
Royal-Galliano was of the same sentiments. “Can’t we just sue them? Because this is criminal!”
LastNight commented: “God I hate Willy’s photography.”
“Me too,” replied an underwhelmed vogue28. “Despite Awar’s infectious smile, this still feels so sterile, vapid and devoid of energy. Claire had better NOT just start relying on Willy Vanderperre to deliver these mundane and soulless covers of French Vogue. This is not an identity the magazine needs to stick with.”
