In a dazzling display of creativity and style, Camilla Franks hosted an exclusive mini-Met Gala in Sydney to celebrate her innovative collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This spectacular event took place at the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s ACO on the Pier, offering a breathtaking view of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, and welcomed around 130 distinguished guests.
Unveiling a 73-piece collection that includes women’s and men’s apparel along with accessories, the new line features six captivating prints inspired by the museum’s eclectic collections and architectural wonders. Each piece is a testament to Camilla’s dedication to luxury resortwear, marrying art and fashion seamlessly.
The debut of this noteworthy collection will take place online on April 7, followed by its availability in select Camilla stores and authorized retailers around the globe starting April 8.
In addition to the Sydney gala, a second launch event is scheduled for April 8 at The Mark Hotel in New York City. This comes on the heels of Camilla’s impressive expansion to the U.S. market, where the brand opened a 1,600-square-foot boutique on Madison Avenue in March 2025. Currently, it operates seven standalone stores in the U.S., making it the brand’s only international market for independent retail. Plans are already underway for an additional store in Hawaii’s Ala Moana mall, set to launch in November. Meanwhile, the brand maintains a strong presence with 26 boutiques across Australia.
This new capsule collection stands out as a more sophisticated offering compared to Camilla’s traditional resortwear line. It features exquisite materials such as silk satin, silk georgette, chiffon, and cotton velvet. The lineup showcases intricately hand-beaded and embroidered pieces, including coats and evening gowns, as well as tailored garments and lavishly tasseled silk scarves. Price points for this elevated collection range from 600 to 3,500 Australian dollars (approximately $413 to $2,410), reaching up to 6,000 Australian dollars (around $4,132) for a heavily embellished coat that’s crafted over hundreds of hours of meticulous handwork.
“Our pinnacle pieces are crafted as unique treasures in limited runs,” shared Camilla Franks, founder and creative director of the brand. “The Met is a place where the past has a pulse. I wandered labyrinths of inspiration, soaking up centuries of rich textiles, tapestries, hand-painted porcelain, and intricate jewelry. This collection pays homage to the museum’s grandeur while bringing both its spirit and some of its most illustrious treasures to life in a way that’s joyful, bold, and utterly rich.”
The Met x Camilla collaboration marks another significant entry on Camilla’s roster of celebrated partnerships, which also includes collaborations with Disney, “Wicked,” “The White Lotus,” and London’s Victoria & Albert Museum. This collaboration represents the first Australian fashion initiative for The Met, which has a history of working with various renowned brands like Sprayground, Lele Sadoughi, Loewe, and Todd Snyder, often in connection with its annual spring exhibitions.
In summary, Camilla Franks’ partnership with The Metropolitan Museum of Art signifies a bold leap into a new era for the brand, merging high-end fashion with inspirational artistic heritage. As audiences eagerly anticipate the unveiling of the collection, it stands as a reminder of how art can influence style, creating pieces that are not only visually stunning but also rich in history and cultural significance.
